Bahia Marina launches commemorative newspaper for National Environment Week

6 de junho de 2018 Inglês

On World Environment Day, on June 5, Bahia Marina launched the “Marina Ambiental” newspaper, addressing some of the actions developed by the company, or that count with its support, in favor of the preservation of the marine environment. The publication will be distributed to opinion makers, public agencies, NGOs and entities that work in this sector, as well as surrounding communities and other stakholders.

“Marina Ambiental” brings as main material the Environmental Education and Social Communication Program developed by Bahia Marina with the Solar do Unhão community since 2012, a program that is developed through workshops, seminars and practical activities, including visits to some of the Baia de Todos os Santos ecosystems.

Another issue addressed by the publication is the sustainable technology of the Schurmann Family sailboat, which was moored at Bahia Marina and was visited by the children of the Solar do Unhão community and the Instituto de Cegos da Bahia.

The work developed by Bemfica Náutica and the Laboratory of Acoustic Ecology and Animal Behavior of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB), together with the Humpback Whales and Boto Gray initiatives, and which has the support of Bahia Marina, Cetacean Society International and Belov Engenharia, is another topic featured in the newspaper. Professor Marcos Rossi told how the 21-day trip on the “Singer Whale” expedition was carried out, and how its main objective was the study of the singing of cetaceans.
